The four-day Mount Meru climb is the extended version of this popular trek, offering an extra day for acclimatization and a more relaxed pace. This additional day allows you to explore more of Arusha National Park's diverse ecosystems and significantly increase your chances of reaching Socialist Peak.
The trek passes through lush tropical rainforest, heath zone, and alpine desert, with opportunities to spot colobus monkeys, bushbuck, and diverse birdlife. The final ascent to Socialist Peak offers panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Maasai steppe, and the Great Rift Valley. This climb is an excellent acclimatization trek before Kilimanjaro.

📅 Day-by-Day Itinerary
Drive to Momella Gate (1500m) and trek through lush rainforest to Mariakamba Hut (2514m).
Ascend through the heath zone to Saddle Hut (3566m). Afternoon acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3820m).
Full day for acclimatization. Hike to Rhino Point (3800m) and return to Saddle Hut. This extra day significantly increases your chances of summiting.
Start at 2am for the summit attempt. Reach Socialist Peak (4562m) for sunrise over Kilimanjaro. Descend to Momella Gate and transfer to Arusha.
