The six-day Marangu Route is the extended version of the classic Coca-Cola Route, offering an extra day for acclimatization and significantly higher summit success rates. This additional day at Horombo Hut allows your body to adjust to the altitude before the final ascent to Kibo Hut and the summit.
The route passes through five climate zones, from tropical rainforest to the arctic summit zone. Hut accommodations provide comfort and shelter, and the well-maintained trail is ideal for trekkers who prefer not to camp. With the extra acclimatization day, this itinerary offers the best balance of comfort and summit success probability.

📅 Day-by-Day Itinerary
Drive to Marangu Gate and begin trekking through rainforest to Mandara Hut (2700m).
Ascend through the moorland zone to Horombo Hut (3720m).
Full day for acclimatization. Hike to Zebra Rocks (4000m) and return to Horombo Hut. This extra day significantly increases your chances of summiting.
Ascend through the alpine desert zone to Kibo Hut (4700m). Rest and hydrate before the summit attempt.
Midnight start for the summit attempt. Reach Uhuru Peak (5895m) at sunrise. Descend to Horombo Hut (3720m).
Descend to Marangu Gate (1879m). Certificate ceremony and transfer to hotel or airport.
